daddy day visit to great-grandpa's

Walking with Great-grandpa and his dog.

Remembering Great-grandma.

Mmmmm! Great-granpa makes Kaemon Ze a peanut butter and jelly sandwich!

Great-grandpa gave Kaemon Ze this huge alligator he made several years ago - it's a scooter!

2012 bean pole teepee

This is our 3rd year of making a bean pole teepee. This year, instead of two teepees, we made one BIG one to play in! Beside it, I want to build a corn and sunflower house I'd read about. Should be fun!

progress on the patio

This evening, I was able to make some significant progress on the patio we started last year. It's looking nice! I'm considering adding marbles too the "Montana River" rocks, for added decor, but I'm not sure it's a good idea.

artichokes...already!

He helped daddy harvest this beauty and three smaller ones.
He has his own non-sharp serrated knife, which he used to trimmed it.
He then helped me cook it and he even shared it with us during dinner. :)

more mama day adventures!

 Rolling in flowers.

 JOY, expressed.

Us, climbing trees.

Funny faces.

Lunch-time fun.

After a nap at home, daddy met us downtown at the big fountain!
At one point, Kaemon Ze ran over to me and asked, "Can I be over there?" pointing toward the fountain. "Sure," I replied. As he ran towards the fountain, I replayed what he said, and realized he might have asked, "Can I PEE over there?" As I had this realization, I see my son pulling his pants down! I yelled for him to stop, luckily in time. He was able to hold it until we got to the public restroom. Whew. (Thank goodness he asked!)

A fun, full day.

mama day adventures at the rhododendron gardens

Where's Kaemon Ze? Running, of course!

Where's Kaemon Ze? Exploring, of course!

 Pretty vistas.

 "Hi goose."

 His eyes are there, somewhere.

We saw ducklings and goslings. We really enjoyed that!

Holding still long enough to pose for a photo.
 Back to boy stuff.

 My sweet angel boy.

His "smile for me" smile. Cheesy goodness.

The treasures he found -- and took home.

visiting great-grandpa

Kaemon Ze's great-grandma Truth passed away Saturday evening from lung cancer, at the age of 84. Kaemon Ze and Daddy spent this afternoon with great-grandpa Marston to keep him company and share their love with him.

 Posing for photos.

This is my favorite photo of them. Funny guys!

Great-grandpa's house is connected to a city park - very handy for walking his dog and his great-grandson!

Taking the long way to the park.

Walking Darla the dog. At the memorial service, I was relayed an experience Marston had with Kaemon Ze. While at the park, a group of 3-year-olds converged on the park. Kaemon Ze jumped at the opportunity to go play with them. But first, he walked Darla to his great-grandpa, gave him the leash, and let him know he was going to go play with the kids. I'm told he would check back in with great-grandpa to make sure he was okay with Darla. What a sweet boy. This mama beamed with pride for his consideration.

Reading princess stories to his great-grandson. So sweet!

active saturday (life with a boy)

Look at the scene I came upon this morning. When I asked Kaemon Ze why he drew on the table he diplomatically stated he did it because he thought I would like it. Nice try son. With concern on my face, I asked him how he was going to get the crayon off the table. He dashed in the kitchen for a towel, tried to rub it off. Then he decided he needed some water, so he ran to the bathroom and put water on the towel and by golly - he got most of it off! I helped him add a little elbow grease to the finish the job. Way to problem-solve, son!

Off to Saturday Market - specifically to do this (above).

M U S T run circles!

Before "quite time" we stopped by a river trail so he could practice riding his scooter.
Or, in this case: practice pulling his scooter.
(Yes...he still naps! We are so grateful for that, too!)

He likes to go super fast on it, but is still learning the "lean-to" steering.
Damn that learning curve! He just wants to go NOW and race EVERYONE!

More for my, "Life with a Boy" series...
I found a relaxed dolphin enjoying copious amounts of soap suds in the sink before bed.
