first-ever roller coaster ride

Here's the video from Kaemon Ze's first-ever roller coaster ride...and he did it without his mom or his dad! It didn't go too well...after the downhill, and before the first bend, he looked like he was trying to wiggle his way out of the seat. Luckily, the teenager manning the controls noticed this (and the look of terror on his face) and stopped the ride after only one pass (it was supposed to make two passes). He and his buddy got off the ride and the coaster went on without them.

I expected he might cry...but when he came down the plank, I swallowed my own out-of-body-terror and said, merrily, "How was it?" He actually said, "Great!" After another hour or so, he and his buddy went back on, this time with his Daddy...and they did it two times in a row! I'm so proud of him for "getting back in the saddle."

PS - the screaming you hear is a kid standing next to me who just needed to scream, apparently. :)

nature walk with finn

While Kaemon Ze napped at home through the start of his playdate with Finn, I took Finn to a new-to-me nature path near the house. We were both amazed by the evidence of some very busy beavers!

sunny saturday

Kaemon Ze's first-ever roller coaster ride!

He and his buddy Tycho went by themselves the first round. All went well until the coaster dropped down the hill. Kaemon Ze looked scared. Then, as the coaster was preparing to round a corner, his look went from scared to terrified! He tried to move down into his seat to, presumably, get away from it. Thankfully, the operator saw this and stopped the coaster at the dock, before it went on to complete it's second pass. When the boys got off, I thought Kaemon Ze might be screaming his head off, but no. He came bopping down the plank. I swallowed my own out-of-body terror and asked merrily, "How was it?" He said, "Great!" Though, I knew not to ask if he wanted to do it again. Ha ha! OMG that was scary for me!

Can you believe...after riding a bunch of other rides, he and Tycho went back to it and rode it two more times! This time, our Whimsy Guy went with them. I was so proud of him for wanting to try it again...and again! (And I was very glad Whimsy went with them.)

I have video of the first ride; I'll see if I can post it.

More creative silliness at breakfast.

lemoncholy

Thought this exchange between Kaemon Ze and his Grandma was funny. He made use of his "word of the day," based on a book we've been reading (over and over) about an ogre who lost his "familiar" (a cat) and became melancholy.

We were searching video still images on youtube looking for funny animal ones to watch. Kaemon Ze sees an animal that looks kind of sad, and he says "lemoncholy! he looks lemoncholy".

I'm trying to figure out what he sees and what he means, so I ask "Lemoncholy. hmm .. I don't know that word. Might you mean melancholy?"

"Yeah! Melancholy! Melancholy .."

(Wrong fruit, right word. ;))

"That's an interesting word. Do you know what melancholy means?"

"It means when somebody loses something that they love, like a pet, then they look kind of sad then that's melancholy. They look melancholy."

Wow. Brilliance comes in small packages these days!

Good job mom!

it's time for tsa to go away

$1B of TSA Nude Body Scanners Made Worthless By Blog — How Anyone Can Get Anything Past The Scanners

"This video is here to demonstrate that the TSA’s insistence that the nude body scanner program is effective and necessary is nothing but a fraud, just like their claims that the program is safe (radiation what?) and non-invasive (nude pictures who?). The scanners are now effectively worthless, as anyone can beat them with virtually no effort. The TSA has been provided this video in advance of it being made public to give them an opportunity to turn off the scanners and revert to the metal detectors. I personally believe they now have no choice but to turn them off.

Please share this video with your family, friends, and most importantly, elected officials in federal government. Make sure they understand that your vote is contingent on them fixing the abuse that 200,000 passengers face from the TSA on a daily basis."
