ahhh... saturday. i love ya!

My "ground cherry pie" experiment... (I followed a tested and well-liked recipe online).

This is what a ground cherry looks like. I grew them in our garden this year. The pie tasted good and everyone thought it was especially good with vanilla ice cream.

Trying to put on the big lips Auntie Laura gave me.

Surprising the in-laws. :)

Watching how to play the ukulele on YouTube.
This beautiful birthday gift was from his buddy Finn.
His parents carried it all the way back from Hawaii!

hump day and the living is good

My big 2-yr-old boy, off to Gramma's this morning
with his backpack and his dino. :)
In the evening: spontaneous taco, tequila, and pumpkin carving!
The pumpkin above was created by Finn's daddy.
This one (above) was created by Finn's mom.

Meanwhile, the boys show me their belly buttons.

These two (above and below) were cleverly carved by Auntie Katie.

This is the "before" photo (above) of our motely crew of pumpkins. Below is the "after" shot:

celebrating two

happy 2nd birthday, kaemon ze!

Two years ago today, our sweet son was born Sunday, October 26 at 4:34 am. He weighed 7lbs 12 ounces and was 21" long. The sight of him made his Daddy cry, and our hearts were overwhelmed with this new life; this new love. We wondered at the sight of him. Who are you? Who will you become? We welcomed him into our lives, to our world.

Last year, we celebrated the completion of his first year of life and the start of his (technically) second year of life. Here's what he looked like last year:

And now... our boy has completed the 2nd year of his life and is starting on the third... amazing! He's so smart, funny, big, strong, and curious. He is our world. And blessedly so.

HAPPY 2nd BIRTHDAY, SON!

countdown to two years old

we think dinosaurs are misunderstood...

Dragons and dinosaurs have excellent grooming habits.

Dinosaurs love to ski.

Dinosaurs like to eat snow (but not yellow snow).

Dinosaurs love to fly and especially love to look at the window.

Dinosaurs love to drive.

Dinosaurs don't mind saying what's on their tiny minds.

Dinosaurs like to ride motorcycles.

Dinos like to read the sports page over breakfast.

"Wee!"

"Just got back from the zoo - it was a blast!"

"Wee!"

Tickle, tickle! "hahahahaha!"

Even carnivores need a snack...
